The detail
Conditions in full, fees, entries, and extending your stay
- No visa is required, whatever passport you hold — the Immigration and Civil Status Division puts it plainly: “a visa is not required to enter Seychelles by other passport holders”.
- ⚠️ But you cannot simply turn up. “All visitors to Seychelles must possess a valid Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) prior to departing from their country of origin.” Apply at seychelles.govtas.com or through the Seychelles e-Border app before you fly.
- ⚠️ The ETA carries a fee, but no government page we could read publishes the amount — it is quoted inside the application itself. Budget for it and check the figure when you apply; do not assume the visa-free rule means a free entry.
- What you get on arrival is a visitor's permit, “issued upon arrival in Seychelles to individuals traveling for purposes such as holiday, pleasure, business, or visiting friends and family”, and it is “initially granted for a stay of up to three months”. The 90 days shown above is that three months; the exact length is set when you land.
- The permit is granted only if you are not a prohibited immigrant, do not already hold a permit to reside in Seychelles, and can show all three of the following.
- A “valid return or onward ticket … for the duration of the visit”.
- “Confirmed accommodation” — a booking, not a plan. Immigration also asks you to give the correct address where you will stay, and to notify the department if it changes.
- ⚠️ Sufficient funds, and Seychelles publishes an actual figure: “a minimum of US$150 or equivalent per day”. For a ten-day trip that is US$1,500 you may be asked to evidence, which is among the highest daily thresholds on this site.
- Your passport “MUST be valid for the period of the intended stay until arrival back in the holder's country of origin or residence” — a rule tied to your return date rather than the usual fixed six months.
- The initial three months cost nothing: “The initial Visitor's Permit is issued free of charge for the first three months.”
- ⚠️ “It is a serious offence to make false declarations to an immigration officer for the purpose of entry in Seychelles.”
- Extending your stay
- Possible. Generously, and the ceiling is a year. The Immigration and Civil Status Division states the visitor's permit “can be extended for successive periods of up to three months each, to a maximum total duration of twelve months, provided the individual continues to meet the above criteria”. The first three months are free; after that “a fee of SCR 5,000 is required for each additional three-month period or part thereof” — a flat charge per extension, so a year in Seychelles means paying it three times. Apply online at permits.ics.gov.sc, paying by card, or in person at Independence House in Victoria.
