Where to travel in August on an Indian passport

For ordinary Indian passports, tourism travel only.

August carries India’s long weekends, which makes it a short-trip month: four or five days, booked late, usually somewhere within a few hours’ flight. That shape rewards destinations you can leave for without arranging anything first, and the visa rule on each card is the fastest way to see which those are.

It is still a wet month across much of the near region, so the list is a modest one and the section below it — the destinations we have verified whose season this is not — is worth a glance rather than a scroll past. A country rated poorly for August is not a country to avoid; it is a country to visit at a different time, and its page will tell you when.

For a four-day trip, the daily budget matters less than the visa and the flight. Get those two right and August is one of the better-value months of the year.

Of the 25 countries we have verified so far, 16 rate August good or excellent. More are being added as each one is checked against its government’s own sources — this is not yet every country in the world, and a destination missing from this page has usually not been researched yet rather than been ruled out.

Best in August

Peak season in August: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mauritius, Oman, Seychelles, Tanzania and Turkey. Expect higher prices and more people, and book earlier than you otherwise would — this is about crowds and cost, not weather.

Verified, but August is not their season

These are countries we have checked and published, whose measured weather does not support a August trip. They are here because a destination missing from a page tells you nothing about why — each card carries its own rating for August, and each country page shows the months that do work.

Daily budgets are our own mid-range estimates for one traveller, reviewed between 15 August 2026 and 18 August 2026. They are a guide, not a price anyone charges.

How these are ranked

Ratings weigh rain days as heavily as millimetres, because a short daily shower and a fortnight of steady rain are not the same holiday even when the totals match.

Ranking is weather only. It says nothing about how easy a country is to enter or what it costs — both are on every card, and the visa rule on each one was read from that government’s own source, with the date shown on the country page.
