Where to travel in October on an Indian passport

For ordinary Indian passports, tourism travel only.

October is when the travel year restarts. The rains pull back, the festival season begins at home, and outbound demand climbs steadily through the month — which means the fare you are quoted in early October and the one you are quoted at the end of it are rarely the same fare.

It is the best month of the year to be early. Anything requiring a visa in advance should be started now rather than in November, when the same processing queue is carrying everyone’s winter holiday. The ranking is climate only, so read it next to the budget and the visa rule rather than instead of them. The best-rated destination on this page is not the right answer if it needs six weeks of paperwork you do not have.

Of the 25 countries we have verified so far, 18 rate October good or excellent. More are being added as each one is checked against its government’s own sources — this is not yet every country in the world, and a destination missing from this page has usually not been researched yet rather than been ruled out.

Best in October

Peak season in October: Hong Kong, Kenya, Nepal and Uzbekistan. Expect higher prices and more people, and book earlier than you otherwise would — this is about crowds and cost, not weather.
